The HIATUS
The Hiatus, officially rendered as the HIATUS, is a Japanese rock band formed by Takeshi Hosomi; the former lead vocalist of Ellegarden. Their official site defines The Hiatus as "a project of music and art, depicters."
History: The Hiatus was formed by Takeshi Hosomi during the spring of 2009 after Ellegarden announced their hiatus in May 2008. The Hiatus started as Takeshi Hosomi's solo project without live performance, and other members were gathered to record the first album. Other members include guitarist Masasucks from Fullscratch, bassist Ueno Koji from Thee Michelle Gun Elephant, drummer Kashikura Takashi from Toe, and pianist Hirohisa Horie from Neil & Iraiza. Hosomi wrote all the songs except for two songs which he wrote with masasucks, and he produced the album in collaboration with Horie.
On May 25, 2009, it was newly announced that keyboardist Ichiyou Izawa from Tokyo Jihen and drummer Masakazu Ichinose from Asparagus joined as tour artists.
On May 27, 2009, their first album, Trash We'd Love, was released. Because of the band members previous popularity, their album reached No. 1 on the Oricon albums chart in Japan. The album's cover art was designed by Kaori Maki.
They played their first show at Punk Spring 2009 and continued onto play at other festivals such as the Nano-Mugen Festival, Rock in Japan Festival and Summer Sonic Festival in the same year.
The Hiatus was featured in such magazines as Bridge, Rockin'on Japan, Bass Magazine, Sound & Recording Magazine and Guitar Magazine. They were also featured on J-Wave "Tokyo Real-Eyes" radio and on Space Shower TV.
